*REVIEW* Small Town Girl by Jessica Pine

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 3.5 Stars

It was a light, enjoyable read. The story of Clayton and Lacie. Lacie is an English major who is working in her dads shop in a small town, Vermont where she grew up. She ends up having a one night stand with Clayton without even asking him his name and is dumbfounded when he turns up at her dad's shop for an interview for a job. When he gets the job, Lacie's one night stand comes back to haunt her.

They are really cute together but at times i was a bit like Clayton as i didn't know half the time what Lacie was on about. She seemed to talk in riddles about everything. I found the book to drag on in places but other times, the book seemed to jump forward too much that i got confused as to what was happening. At times i found to find the substance behind the story or the moral of the story, so to speak. When i got to about 60% through the book, i begun to enjoy it a bit more as i felt there was more going on. I still had no idea what Lacie was going on about half the time but when a "situation" happens that makes her life take a different turn, i was intrigued to see what was going to happen. It was an enjoyable read to some extent and a light and breezy story.

Just out of college, millennial Lacie couldn't seem to get her life started. With a degree in English, she was the pride of the family, until she came back home to work at the family antique store. She had started and stopped a novel a half dozen times, but just couldn't seem to make any serious headway on it. She just felt like she was treading water.

That was until she met Clay.

When she met Clay at a bar, she never expected to end up in his car. She never expected to have a one-night stand with him. And she certainly never expected him to start work at her father's antique store the next day.

Clay also seemed to be going nowhere fast, but Lacie felt herself begin to fall for him. What started as a simple fling began to turn into something so much more. But sometimes, those one-night stands come back to bite you, and nothing ever stays a secret in a small town...
