*REVIEW* Innocent Lies by J.W.Phillips

Reviewer: Donna
Rating: 3 Stars

Innocent Lies is definitely not a sappy love story. It's full of lies and two people, Dylan and Ethan that are both seriously screwed up that they relationship is a disaster.

Dylan lost her dad when she was younger and had to endure her mum and her many boyfriends but when Louie came along, the terror really happened. He traded her to three men that her owed a debt to and they physically and mentally abused her as well as raping her. She has been through so much and come out on the other side as a mixed up and very troubled girl. Then she meets Ethan. She knows there is something not right with him but she never imagined she would fall in love with him and then find out that his brother was one of the ones who abused her. Ethan world is full of drugs and their "family business" is not what it seems. Dylan understands that when Ethan turns up beaten up when he came back from a mission is dad sent him on.

These two are just both mixed up and very troubled. I was surprised with the way Dylan took the news when Ethan told her that he was there the night she was beaten and left. I guess that why it makes this story such a troubled one. I would have loved to understand Ethan better and having his POV would have be great. I didn't understand him at all and at the end of the book, when he has a chapter of his POV, i enjoyed that bit the best. I just wanted to completely understand the characters and what Ethan was thinking and feeling as half the time, i just didn't understand him and he seemed  really strange and i honestly didn't like him. I want to understand his story.

If you are after a sappy love story, you won't find it here but this is definitely worth reading but be warned, it is quite unsettling in places.

**WARNING: This is NOT a sweet and sappy romance. It's dark, twisted, and not for the faint of heart. If you prefer HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY this is NOT the book for you. Recommended for ages 17+ due to language and sexual situations.**

Dylan’s life was a living Hell, but she discovered what Hell really was.

Dylan was minding her own business when Ethan sat down at her table. All she wanted was peace from her past. He offered her the protection and calm she had never known. That was until she learned how much of that past he was a part of.

If life had taught Dylan Summers anything it was that not everyone gets a happily ever after.

Well I finished this book a good few hours ago and my mind is still reeling! This has been one heck of a story and I feel totally emotionally wrung out right now! It has been a long time since a book has effected me like this and the emotional roller coaster I've been on has been immense! ~ Emthebookbabe ~

This has got to be one of my favorite books. ~ Clarie Richards ~

What an ending! I couldn't put it down once I started reading it... The turmoil, twists and turns in the story - Whew!!! I'm emotionally spent. ~ Lisa~
